For years, musicians have struggled with the unpredictable nature of Germanium fuzz pedals—beautiful when it's behaving, frustrating when the temperature shifts.
The Germanium transistor is effected by temperature change: So much, that just touching the transistor with your fingers can change their gain and current leakage. You may have seen Youtuber's put their fuzz pedals in the refrigerator or freezer producing better tonal qualities and with more sustain. We did some tests with geranium transistors and found that by cooling down the transistor the current leakage came down to zero.
Up to now, there has been no way to maintain a cool temperatures in a pedal. We solved that problem.
We built the world’s first fuzz pedal with an internal refrigeration system that actively regulates the transistors to a colder temperature—regardless of whether you're playing under blistering stage lights or in freezing outdoor venues. At the core of the Freeze Pedal is a set-and-forget circuit (with user adjustment available), keeping the Germanium transistor locked in at optimal performance temperatures.
